Finding a job in this economy is quite a task. Employment data may
suggest that the economy is bouncing back, but everyone seems to forget
the people that are falling off the radar because their benefits have
run out. People continue to lose their jobs and the available employment
pool becomes more and more competitive. The
national unemployment rate may have gone down since it hit its peak in
2010, but that number is very argumentative. When a person loses their
benefits, they literally fall completely off the radar concerning
unemployment statistics.
The government can make any claim they want, there are still hundreds of
thousands of people out there looking for work that are completely
unaccounted for in the statistics.
Anyone looking for an argument to support this fact needs look no
further than the “new jobs” statistic. Month after month, the government
releases numbers stating that tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of
new jobs have been created. However, the unemployment rate either goes
up, remains the same, or goes down by a percentage that is not relative
to the new jobs that have been created. The reason for this is that some
of these new jobs are being secured by individuals who were no longer
in the statistics pool.
We
are now in a situation that has experienced professionals used to
six-figure salaries competing with college graduates for the same
position. Put yourself in the employer’s position and think about whom
you would hire. Do you want an inexperienced 22-year old running your
business or a seasoned veteran who knows what works and what does not?
Under normal circumstances, the veteran employee would cost tens of
thousands more, but because the experienced worker may be out of
benefits, they are more likely to take a job far below their value just
to collect a paycheck.
An option that can benefit many individuals in this situation and
provide them with an adequate wage is going to work as on overseas
contractor. Businesses around the world are flourishing in areas where
the sponsor country has little or no experience. The overseas businesses
are now willing to pay top dollar for qualified and experienced
professionals. In addition, while many of these jobs are called contract
positions, they often result in long-term employment or an actual job
offer from the business.
The overseas market is flourishing and there is not a single reason
why U.S. residents should not take advantage. It may result in a bit of a
culture shock for some professionals and their families, but the shock
will disappear soon enough. Besides, the alternatives are to either take
a job far below market value or end up falling off benefits with no
income at all. When you think about it, taking a job overseas is a very
attractive solution to the unemployment epidemic in the United States.
